PEWSEY VALE RUNNERS RAISE CASH FOR PATHFINDERS Members of Pewsey Vale Running Club are pictured handing over a cheque for £1,300 raised from the proceeds of our Charity 10k Road Race 2008,which took place earlier this year to five members of Pathfinders (Swindon) at a very wet monthly time trial meet at the Golden Swan in Wilcot. In 2006 £1,300 was raised and in 2007 £1660 was raised from the event for Pathfinders. This year the club again unanimously chose this very deserving group of people to receive the cash because of the way the organisation, with the help of dedicated volunteers enables disabled young people to participate in a wide range of sporting activities, including sailing, sky diving, skiing and white-water rafting, which in turn helps build independence, self-confidence and self-esteem through doing, and achieving in sport and other activities. The £1,300 raised this year will help to send a group to Ireland for a water activities challenge. Pathfinders needs constant funding, and the help of dedicated caring volunteers to continue supporting disabled youngsters, so if anyone is able to help please call Jeannie Clifford 01793 706270 (http://www.communigate.co.uk/wilts/pathfinders)
From left to right the five members of Pathfinders pictured receiving the cheque on behalf of Pathfinders are, Nicola Bates, Steve Smith, Andrew Milne, Kate Middleton (standing) and Alison Sealey. (Jeanie Clifford is standing third from right at back.)
